Bergen 5 - Farm Life

This farmer works full time at a prison teaching prisoners to make confections such as cakes, cookies and candies. He served us some cakes and coffee, tea, or got chocolate. I had the homemade chocolate with coddled cream, a raspberry tart and a macaroon. It was delicious.

May 17,1814 Norway got freedom from Denmark. They got their own constitution and and National costumes. Six months later NirwY joined Sweden until 1905. Haagen VII was King if Norway from 1905-1957. National costumes cost $6,000 or more. A child will often receive a costume when they are 15 or when they are confirmed. The costume represents the area they are from. It is expandable if one grows bigger. The farmer and two local women are in costume. The farmer played a lovely song on the piano that was written by a Norwegian.
