Helsinki Finland

Helsinki was discovered in 1550. In 1760 there were only 500 people in Helsinki. By the early 1800's the population was at 1,000.

Until 1917 Finland was part of Russia. However, Finland did belong to Sweden at times. There are more than 3 million saunas here. Art Nouveau architecture is often seen here as seen in these pictures. The population in Helsinki is 765,000, 1.2 million in Metro Helsinki area and 5.2 million in Finland. Half of the homes have single persons. And they have on average 1.4 children per family.
