The Library (red and black brick) built in 1677, survived the big fire 200 years later, only to be on fire in recent times. It was then rebuilt.
St Mary Church was built in 1220 and rebuilt in 1454. It was built as a Catholic Church, but it is now a Lutheran Church. It has the oldest working astronomical clock.

Typical 5 gabled buildings are actually restructured because Rostock was bombed very heavily during the wars.
