St. Isaac’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral
St. Isaac's is one of the best known churches in St. Petersburg. Central to the interior decor of the Cathedral is the combination of colored marbles, malachite, lapis and gilt which creates a sumptuous setting for the many magnificent sculptures, paintings and mosaics.
The fourth stage of the Cathedral was built between 1818-1858. Some services are occasionally held in this church. A little strange to us, the attendees stand through the entire service.
The last picture is a chandelier when looking directly up the bottom of the chandelier; it forms a beautiful rosette - a hint from our guide.
